Refractory Materials for Glass Kiln – Fused Cast Bricks
Glass kiln is working in harsh environment. The damage of kiln refractory is mainly affected by chemical erosion, mechanical erosion, and high temperature. Fused cast refractory is preferred.
The fused cast brick has a lithofacies structure consisting of an eutectoid and a glass phase of corundum and zircon slant, which are phased from the eutectoid phase of the corundum phase and the zircon slant phase, and the glass phase is filled between their crystals. Therefore, it is highly resistant to slag and anti-glass liquid. So that is often used in the melting pool of glass melting furnaces to scouring and eroding the most severe parts.
Considering the particularity of the kiln structure, the refractory material at the bottom of the pool and the wall of the pool is in direct contact with the molten glass, and the chemical erosion is more serious. So the pool wall and the bottom of the pool are made of large bricks instead of small bricks, such as zirconia corundum brick.
The fused zirconia corundum brick is made of industrial alumina powder and selected zircon sand. The refractory product has a ZrO2 content of 33%~45%. The melting point is 2550 ℃, and the heating to 1750 ℃ has no shrinkage. Affected by the erosion of molten glass and slag. It is very suitable for working conditions of glass kilns with high-temperature resistance, erosion resistance, and erosion.
