Simulation on Influencing Factors of Hot Steel Ladle in Steelmaking Plant

The improvement of the rate of hot steel ladle can play a great role in optimizing the thermal state of steel ladle, lowering the tapping temperature of the converter and maintaining a constant casting speed of the caster.

Firstly, the turnover process of steel ladle was analyzed, and then a simulation model of steel ladle turnover process was established and run. With the simulation model some influencing factors on the rate of hot steel ladle were analyzed such as empty steel ladle time, hot repair time, repair age of steel ladle, and the relationship between the turnover rate of steel ladle and the rate of hot steel ladle was specially studied.

It is shown that the rate of hot steel ladle drops with the increasing of empty steel ladle time. When the daily productivity of typical steel is 45 heats, the rate of hot steel ladle drops from 94% to 45% with the increasing of hot repair time. The higher repair age of steel ladle is, the stronger the effect of the rate of hot steel ladle improvement is. At the same time, the turnover rate of steel ladle is also improved to a certain extent with the increasing of the rate of hot steel ladle.

The results have much significance for improving the rate of hot steel ladle and optimizing energy consumption in a steelmaking plant.
