Magnesia carbon brick (MgO-C brick) is a non-burning carbon composite refractory material made of high melting point basic oxide magnesium oxide (melting point 2800℃) and high melting point carbon material that is difficult to be infiltrated by slag as raw materials, adding various non-oxide-additives-and-combining-them-with-carbonaceous binders. Performance of Rongsheng Magnesium Carbon Bricks
MgO-C brick, as a composite refractory material, effectively utilizes the strong slag erosion resistance of magnesia and the high thermal conductivity and low expansion of carbon, compensating for the biggest disadvantage of magnesia, which is poor spalling resistance.
- (1) High-temperature resistance. There is no eutectic relationship between MgO and C at high temperatures. Therefore, magnesia carbon refractory materials have good high-temperature performance.
- (2) Strong slag resistance. MgO itself has strong corrosion resistance to alkaline slag and high iron slag. Graphite has a large wetting angle to slag and poor wettability to molten slag. Therefore, magnesia carbon refractory materials have high slag resistance.
- (3) Good thermal shock resistance. Graphite has high thermal conductivity, low linear expansion coefficient, and small elastic modulus. The mechanical strength of graphite increases with increasing temperature. Therefore, magnesia carbon bricks have good thermal shock resistance.
- (4) Low high-temperature creep. Compared with other ceramic bonded refractory materials, MgO-C bricks show particularly good creep characteristics. This is because the matrix of MgO-C bricks is composed of high melting point graphite and magnesia fine powder, and there is a strong carbon bonding network between the particles, which is not easy to slip. C and MgO have no eutectic relationship and there is little liquid phase.
